- simplify- reducing the expression by proforming operation to get to lowest terms.. EX: 3/6=1/2. EX:24/4 = 6/1 = 6
- solve- get a porticular variable by itself.. EX: 2+2. EX: 2+45-3x
- evaluate- subsitute #'s for variables,than follow order of operations.. EX:6=x. 2x=12/ 2(6)=12. EX: 6=x. 2x+3x-3=17/ 2(6)+3(6)-3=17
- exponet- telling you how many times a base multiplies itself.. EX: -2^2. (-2)(-2). EX: -2x^2.(-2x)(-2x)
- base- the variable being raised to a power.. EX:(-2)^2.
